Have you ever tried to wait for a gorgeous pair of shoes to go on sale, but they sell out, or get shipped out, before you get the right price?  Or have you tried to buy an item with your coupons, but the item was excluded from the discount. Well, chances are that you can still find these hard-to-find items, but at a much reduced price online.

Most stores have a clearance section on their websites. Here, stores sell the last of certain item for a reduced price.  Sometimes, items from internet and traditional retail stores are sent to discount retailers, such as Ross and TJ Maxx. Shopping in these stores does not guarantee that you’ll find every item that you’ve been searching for, but it is a way to save some big bucks on items that you may have missed in department stores.

One of the best online clearance sections is Nine West’s “Last Dibs”. This section of Nine West’s allows you to search the site specifically for last dibs. Check the section periodically and search for a variety of items including, purses and jewelry.  You can even perform a “My Size Only” search. You enter your shoe size into the search box and the site will show you items they have in your particular size. The best thing about this search function is that the shoes are in your size and they are all on sale…no coupon needed.

Another good website for clearance items is the BodyShop.com.  When items go to the Body Shop’s “Last Chance” section, high-quality items are offered at huge savings. These items often have been discontinued and the Body Shop wants to sell them quickly, hence the big savings.

If you are seeking items for the home, try the clearance section at PierOne.com.  With an awesome selection of several items with more than 50% off, you will feel as though you have hit the home shopping jackpot.  By signing up for the customer rewards program, you will be notified of special sales and emailed extra coupons which allow you to potentially double your savings.

The easiest way to become a savvy online shopper is through web coupons sent directly to your email. Registering as a “Preferred Customer” allows you to be privy to special sales and gain access to valuable coupons.

Becoming a “Preferred Customer” is essential. Stores depend on return customers. As such, retailers often offer incentives for future shopping as well as bonus “thank you” deals. Registering online is easy—simply click on the tab labeled “join now,” and enter contact information when prompted. Not all stores have the same labels for this category, but most will be similarly titled. One must remember, however, not to join the email notification list for all stores. Because joining is so simple, novice shoppers often make the mistake of joining too many “Preferred Customer” lists. This mistake is two-fold. Not only does this generate an excessive number of emails, a majority of which will go unused, but the sheer number of emails may well cause valuable coupons to be lumped with the “junk” emails. Overwhelmed, one might mistakenly delete a practical coupon. A useful coupon may even get redirected to the “Spam” section of the inbox, meaning that you’ll never see, let alone use, it.

Only register with the stores which you frequently purchase items from. Just because you like the items/style of a particular retailer does not mean that registering is necessary. For example, you like the clothes at Petite Sophisticate and enjoy browsing their website. Their line of clothing, however, doesn’t suit your figure. Registering with Petite Sophisticate would be impractical because you do not buy their clothes. Simply liking the clothing isn’t enough to justify registering; you need to actually buy the clothing. Unnecessary registering just clutters your inbox.  Register only with all the stores you shop at the most. Having made one small purchase a few months ago isn’t a good reason to register. Only register with stores where you make frequent purchases to avoid excessive emails.

When registering, be sure to enter your personal information regarding your birthday and anniversary. Many stores offer extra discounts on these days. The savvy shopper opts for the company newsletter. Although it may seem superfluous, newsletters can help shoppers save extra money because these publications often include information about early store openings, online bargains, double savings days, etc. Smart shoppers also pay close attention to the small print at the bottom of the emails from their favorite retailer. It is within this text that web coupon codes are listed. Entering these codes when paying for online purchases is necessary for achieving savings. Don’t forget to access useful sites, like CouponWinner.com, to check for a variety of promotional codes, sale information, and savvy shopping tips.
